Acquisition of Switch and Kaleyra, hyperscalers to help drive growth.
According to a top executive, Tata Communications Ltd. wants to become its US business the company's largest after India by growing it to $700 million to $1 billion in three years.
Growth is anticipated to be fueled by the integration of its acquisition of The Switch Enterprises, which has high-end clients, as well as the contribution of enterprise clients and hyperscalers to its connectivity business.
The US will end up becoming our second-biggest market after India, according to managing director and CEO Amur S. Lakshminarayanan, who made this statement in an interview. He cited its partnerships with hyperscalers and service providers as well as its US acquisitions of Switch and Kaleyra.
"Our goal is to grow the US business to a size of between $700 million and $1 billion within the next three years," he stated.
Although the company currently divides its revenues between India and other international regions, in the upcoming quarters it will start to publish separate revenues for major international areas like the US.
Tata Communications reported revenue of ₹18,201 crore for the fiscal year that ended in September 2023, and ₹9,857 crore for the six months that ended in September 2023.
According to Lakshminarayanan, the US market's current share of overall sales is much less than $500 million, which is half of the revenue that the US company is predicted to generate in three years.
He does, however, plan to boost the percentage of income derived from foreign markets, where the company already has a competitive edge in connected infrastructure solutions and communications platforms, serving high-end, esteemed customers like banks and Formula One.
Following the mergers, he stated, "We are seeing increasing traction with customers across all our platforms."
In order to lower spam calls and keep businesses from receiving unexpected bills, Tata Communications is also investing in artificial intelligence (AI) in its voice platforms and other enterprise-focused products and services.
Using AI for Internet of Things platforms, it is also providing customers at retail chains with tailored video messages.
AI is also being used in connected cars to tell automakers where to put them and to update the entertainment systems' software.
"We're able to bring that intelligence to them using AI and ML," he continued. "Globally, the OEMs (car makers) are losing $3.8 billion because of failed SOTA (software over-the-air updates) because of connectivity."
He went on to say that Tata Communications and Nvidia's collaboration to introduce their own AI Cloud may potentially be leveraged to provide big businesses with an edge-based platform for model training.
Tata Communications is conducting ten trials to establish captive 5G networks for businesses for a number of Indian clients that are at different stages of the request for bids process.
The chief executive continued by saying that 5G use cases were still being developed and were mostly centered on businesses, with some situations needing more precision than others.
