WhatsApp, Thread App

Business messaging, WhatsApp engines of growth; biz digitisation driving headroom: Meta India head

According to Zuckerberg, WhatsApp Flows enables companies to design customized chat thread experiences.

The chief executive of Meta India expressed confidence that the company is "just getting started" given the "immense headroom" here as more businesses digitise and change and cited business messaging and WhatsApp as the next engine of growth and a main priority.According to Sandhya Devanathan, Vice President, Meta India, businesses across the board are innovating and leveraging WhatsApp to reach new audiences, with industries like banking, e-commerce, gaming, and small enterprises leading the way. She cited examples of how companies are using WhatsApp and how they range from bill payment to the sale of metro tickets to banks transmitting statement balances."...Honestly, if we consider the headroom, I believe we're only scratching the surface...Business messaging and WhatsApp are unquestionably a top focus for the India Meta organization because I see WhatsApp as the next engine of growth for our company here in India, Devanathan told PTI.

Globally, she continued, WhatsApp monetization in India is a "key priority" for Meta.According to the most recent statistics available, Facebook has 440 million users in India, and according to Devanathan, Meta has subsequently expanded across its family of apps. The WhatsApp Business app is used by up to 200 million enterprises worldwide. "We do not break down the India number, but it is a pretty good number, it is a huge number in India," she stated." We see headroom and are just getting started, which is why it's a priority to monetize WhatsApp.I believe Chennai is now operational, and we'll be adding a few more in the near future, including everything from paying bills through NPCI to purchasing metro train tickets. She claimed that Meta is witnessing a wave of innovation across verticals and sectors, with banks delivering statement balances.

As more and more businesses in this area convert and digitize, there is enormous potential."... Since the marketing department won't be the only source of headroom. Customer care, re-engagement, and the way businesses communicate with their clients throughout the whole purchasing process will be where it comes from. Therefore, I'm thrilled about what you see," she remarked.A world first for Meta was WhatsApp's partnership with JioMart, which allows customers to shop from JioMart over WhatsApp conversation."From that, we're learning how to genuinely collaborate with Tier 2, Tier 3 cities in India.Consider the additional headroom as well. 400 million individuals will shop online in 2025, and downloading an app won't be their top choice.A messaging app, most likely WhatsApp, is going to be the first form factor they encounter or naturally gravitate toward, according to Devanathan.

In order to make it simpler for customers who trade with companies to pay for goods directly in the conversation, the well-known messaging platform recently announced the expansion of its payments service in India. Customers can now choose from a variety of UPI apps, including competing digital payment methods, as well as credit and debit cards, to make payments.

CEO and creator of Meta Mark Zuckerberg claimed that when it comes to businesses and consumers using messaging, India is setting the global standard.WhatsApp is collaborating with partners Razorpay and PayU "to make paying for something as simple as sending a message" and the Meta-owned network has launched a slew of new capabilities to entice businesses in the expanding commerce area.A number of new tools have been introduced to "speed up how to get things done with businesses in a WhatsApp chat," including WhatsApp Flows and the Meta verified badge. With the help of the new WhatsApp Flows feature, companies can offer their consumers richer in-chat experiences like making reservations, placing delivery orders, or checking in for flights straight through WhatsApp. Businesses will have access to a variety of adaptable, ready-made building blocks that will make it simple for them to create rich, customizable experiences for their customers.

According to Zuckerberg, WhatsApp Flows enables companies to design customized chat thread experiences. In order to demonstrate how this would function, he gave a few examples, stating that using "WhatsApp Flows," a bank could create a way for customers to schedule an appointment to open a new account, a food delivery service could create a way for customers to order from any of their partner restaurants, or an airline could create a way for passengers to check in for a flight and select a seat. All of this may be done within the conversation thread.
